Luka entered the season red hot drop thirty-point games and triple-doubles left and right. Through the first part of the season, Luka Doncic was the leading candidate for MVP, but unfortunately, records play a factor. The Mavericks are currently the 7th seed in the west.

Jason Tatum

Stats- PTS 30.3, REB 8.9, AST 4.8, STL 1.0

Tatum is #4 on the list, but that does not mean he is far from #1. Since last season Jayson Tatum has put the league on notice. Tatum and the Celtics have run rough shot over the league. He is able to bring it on both ends every single night. Just like seeding, how you win and lose games affects how people vote for the MVP award. The Celtics blew double-digit leads and the recent play of our top three candidates have evaluated.

Joel Embiid

Stats- PTS 33.2, REB 10.2, AST 4.1, STL 1.1, BLK 1.5

Embiid is one of the best players in the league. He has hit clutch baskets and has gotten key defensive stops. Despite him being number two I will not be surprised if he received the honors. If he does not win, he definitely deserves NBA 1st-team considerations.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Stats- PTS 31.2, REB 11.9, AST 5.5

The Greek Freak is a bowling ball in the paint. This man has his team with the best record in the NBA as we speak. That can change, but what can not change is the 15-game win streak that his team is coming off. Take this man off this team they are going nowhere.

Nikola Jokic

Stats PTS 24.4, REB 11.8, AST 10, STL 1.2

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, fool me three times I am MVP. The two-time reigning MVP Nikola Jokic can make so much history this season. If he finishes averaging a Triple Double then he would become only the third player to average a triple-double in a season (Oscar Robinson and Russel Westbrook). If he wins the MVP trophy then he would become only the fourth player to do so (Larry Bird, Bill Russell, and Wilt Chamberlain). Some may argue that making history is aiding his case, but people can not deny that he Jokic is a once-in-a-lifetime player.
